Skin Boosters: The Secret to Healthy, Hydrated,Glowing Skin…..

If you've noticed your skin looking dull, dehydrated or less radiant, but you don't want to change your facial features with dermal fillers, skin boosters may be the perfect treatment.

As we age, our skin naturally loses collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid – the substances responsible for keeping our skin hydrated, firm and smooth. While a good skincare routine is important, topical products can only work on the skin's surface. Skin boosters work from within, improving skin quality rather than changing the way you look.

At Gwen Inglis Aesthetics, I believe in treatments that enhance your natural skin rather than altering your appearance. Skin boosters are one of my favourite treatments because the results are subtle, natural and simply make your skin look healthier.

What Are Skin Boosters?

Skin boosters are injectable treatments designed to improve skin hydration, elasticity and texture. Unlike traditional dermal fillers, they are not used to add volume or reshape the face. Instead, they deliver ingredients such as hyaluronic acid into the skin to improve its overall quality. Many patients describe the result as healthier, fresher, more radiant skin rather than looking "done."

Who Are Skin Boosters Suitable For?

Skin boosters can benefit almost anyone experiencing:

• Dry or dehydrated skin
• Fine lines
• Loss of skin elasticity
• Dull complexion
• Crepey skin
• Sun-damaged skin
• Early signs of ageing
• Skin that simply looks tired

They are suitable for both women and men and can be used as both a preventative treatment in younger patients and a rejuvenating treatment for mature skin.

What Areas Can Be Treated?

One of the biggest advantages of skin boosters is their versatility. Depending on the product used, treatment may be suitable for:

• Face
• Cheeks
• Neck
• Décolletage
• Hands
• Around the mouth
• Lower face
• Under-eye area (with selected products)
• Acne scars (selected products)

Types of Skin Boosters

SKINVIVETM by Juvéderm®

SKINVIVETM is one of the newest generation skin boosters and has become increasingly popular because it focuses on improving skin quality without adding volume.

Rather than lifting or contouring, SKINVIVETM is injected as tiny microdroplets just beneath the skin where it improves hydration, smoothness and radiance. It is designed to leave your skin looking healthier while maintaining completely natural facial movement and appearance. Clinical studies have shown improvements in hydration and skin quality that can last for up to nine months in many patients, although some individuals may benefit from a top-up treatment depending on their skin condition.

SKINVIVETM is commonly used to treat:

• Face
• Neck
• Décolletage
• Hands

It is ideal for patients wanting that "healthy skin glow" without looking like they've had aesthetic treatment.

Profhilo®

Profhilo remains one of the most recognised skin boosters worldwide. It contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid available and spreads beneath the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin production while providing intense hydration.

It is particularly effective for skin laxity and is commonly used on:

• Face
• Neck
• Décolletage
• Hands
• Upper arms
• Abdomen
• Knees

Profhilo is usually performed as an initial course of two treatments, four weeks apart, followed by maintenance every six to twelve months depending on your skin.

Polynucleotide Skin Boosters

Polynucleotides work differently from hyaluronic acid skin boosters. Rather than simply hydrating the skin, they encourage tissue repair and support the skin's own regenerative processes.

They are particularly useful for:

• Delicate under-eye skin
• Neck
• Face
• Fine lines
• Skin damaged by ageing or sun exposure

Results develop gradually as the skin repairs itself and are often combined with other treatments as part of a comprehensive skin rejuvenation plan.

How Often Should Skin Boosters Be Repeated?

The ideal treatment schedule depends on the product being used and your individual skin concerns. Typical treatment plans include:

  • SKINVIVETM by Juvéderm®: Often one treatment, with maintenance approximately every 6–9 months depending on your skin and treatment goals.

  • Profhilo®: Two initial treatments four weeks apart, then maintenance every 6–12 months.

  • Polynucleotides: Usually a course of 2–3 treatments approximately 2–4 weeks apart, followed by

    maintenance every 6–12 months.

During your consultation, I will recommend the most appropriate treatment plan based on your skin, lifestyle and desired outcome.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Because skin boosters involve multiple small injections, you may experience:

• Mild redness
• Small bumps at the injection sites
• Bruising
• Tenderness
• Mild swelling

These effects are usually temporary and settle within a few days. As with all injectable treatments, it is important that treatment is performed by an appropriately trained medical professional following a full consultation.

Can Skin Boosters Be Combined With Other Treatments?

Absolutely. Skin boosters work beautifully alongside treatments such as:

• Anti-wrinkle injections
• Medical-grade skincare
• Microneedling
• Polynucleotides
• Chemical peels
• LED light therapy

By improving skin quality from multiple angles, combination treatments often produce the most natural and long-lasting results.
